Recital of the Pledge of Allegiance in Arabic Stirs Controversy?

By Javier Manjarres

American-FlagControversy is swirling around a Colorado high school that has allowed the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance to be in Arabic.  Why are some Americans outraged by this?  Well, your guess is as good as mine- and rest assured I am well aware of the animosity towards Arabic speaking foreigners because of the countless acts of violence perpetrated against Americans by Islamic extremists.

“We have a tremendous amount of diversity in our school,” he told “This is very American, not un-American.”

The school recites the Pledge of Allegiance once a week and on Monday a member of the Cultural Arms Club led the student body in the Arabic version of the pledge. – Fox Nation

I have to side with the principal on this one- the Pledge that was recited is an exact translation of the English version, and that these foreigners are in fact pledging allegiance to the United States of America.  That said, I do believe that English should be made the official language of the United States and that everyone living here should speak the English language.  The outstanding issue I have is that too many of today’s immigrants are not assimilating into the American culture as they previously did in decades past, leading to increasing balkanization and tensions throughout society.  Tell us what you think, take the poll below.
