Recital of the Pledge of Allegiance in Arabic Stirs Controversy?

By Javier Manjarres

American-FlagControversy is swirling around a Colorado high school that has allowed the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance to be in Arabic.  Why are some Americans outraged by this?  Well, your guess is as good as mine- and rest assured I am well aware of the animosity towards Arabic speaking foreigners because of the countless acts of violence perpetrated against Americans by Islamic extremists.

“We have a tremendous amount of diversity in our school,” he told 9News.com. “This is very American, not un-American.”

The school recites the Pledge of Allegiance once a week and on Monday a member of the Cultural Arms Club led the student body in the Arabic version of the pledge. – Fox Nation

I have to side with the principal on this one- the Pledge that was recited is an exact translation of the English version, and that these foreigners are in fact pledging allegiance to the United States of America.  That said, I do believe that English should be made the official language of the United States and that everyone living here should speak the English language.  The outstanding issue I have is that too many of today’s immigrants are not assimilating into the American culture as they previously did in decades past, leading to increasing balkanization and tensions throughout society.  Tell us what you think, take the poll below.

We have more than enough divisions in this land today! We are becoming a Land of Tribes – a modern day Tower of Babble. We know that other lands are being torn apart by sects within the borders.
IF one plans to be American one should learn to read, write and speak English!
If the desire is to cling to all things of thier “homelands” they should return to those homelands! America is having enough trouble with racial and class warfare spurred by those who want to create a vacuum of power they can fill with thier ideologies!

Can you say assimilation? Encourageing hyphated Americanism has proven to divide US. We need to encourage a common language – English. We need to re-establish the Declaration of Independance, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Pledge of Allegiance as worthy of study and respect. When people come to live in America from other countries the should respect the these foundations that formed this unique nation. Language is key to understanding. The use of words in different languages sometimes have different meanings. Assimilation is the key.

Why did they do it in Arabic?

Will they do it in Hebrew next week? Of course not the muslim students would riot and the ACLU will sue.a

We know the goal normalize the idea that its OK to make Islam the state religion and turn the US into a Sharia state.

Assimilation is the only way our country will right itself. Too much attention paid to pacifying those who come here from around the world. I’ve lived overseas & “had to adjust to host country”.. not the other way around.
