Occupy Has Its Wealth Redistributed, Not Happy Campers

By Javier Manjarres

This week’s annual Netroots nation gathering in New England brought out people from all walks of life-Conservatives, Liberals, Republicans, Democrats, and everyone’s favorite crazies, the Occupy Movement.

Occupy Providence was railing against the now infamous 1%, no news here.  But a couple of interesting things transpired during the Netroots gathering, the first being that the Daily Kos sponsored event in Providence kept the Occupy movement from participating in the festivities. Apparently, the Occupy movement, whom President Obama has given his blessing to, was not welcome and decided to protest just outside of the convention center where theNetroots convention was taking place.

Secondly, it was interesting to see the Occupiers selling buttons, bumperstickers and other chochkies in an effort raise money for their cause, whatever that cause might be. I guess evil capitalism has managed to infiltrate the Occupy movement.

To further confuse everyone that has followed Occupy’s evolution, one of their organizers was railing against the hotel business for, according to him, “stealing” their money. Apparently, this organizer works for one of the local hotels and  is upset that his boss is “redistributing” his wealth.

But isn’t this what Occupy is all about, the redistrubution of ‘all’ wealth to level the playing field, making everyone equal? Isn’t this what President Obama supports as well? Someone needs to call President Obama and tell him about this injustice. Needless to say, these Occupiers were not ‘happy campers’.

They are redistributing our wealth of the 99% to the manager’s wealth… We are against manager’s stealing our wealth and taking for themselves- “Joe”, Occupy Providence

Well, kudos to the KOSholes for not inviting the #Occudouches.

Great article, Javier…hypocrisy all the way around. Nice to see the Occupiers are finally getting the big picture, lol…. ;)

I laughed until I cried. Brilliant work!

The OWS-ers need to grow up, get a job and start paying their fair share.

  • Mari

The OWS -ers were “useful idiots” for the far left until even the left realized they were more of a handicap. They need to clean up, grow up and get a job!

The occupy group, which is made up of paid union people are complaining about management. What about the very high salaries of union leaders?

    • Rich

Cite your proof for your allegations.
Prove that these are “paid union people”.
What about the very high salaries of the CEO’s?
Where’s your complaints about the income inequity in America today?

Your hatred for hard working Americans is completely and totally UNAMERICAN. “Patriots” as teabaggers so often describe themselves don’t attack other hard working Americans just because they have better salaries and benefits. That’s more jealousy than any kind of fiscal thinking.

“their wealth”?? I thought it was “our” wealth…. Hypocricy at its best……I suppose every country has its own group of court jesters and I think OWS is America’s!

  • Carlos

The OWS rabble is all about hypocrisy. They burn a corporate flag which contains the Apple logo, among many others, but they have iPhones,iPads and Macs. They’re pissed at the suits in corporate America who oversee finance and their groceries but would starve to death if they had to hunt and gather for themselves. But they NEVER gather outside of Johnny Depp’s house or Geoge Clooney’s mansion, let alone Michael Jordan’s place. You’ll never see them outside FB headquarters, either. That’s because capitalism by those who are cool to the OWS mob is ok, not the other capitalists. same for Ben & Jerry’s, they’d never protest them, would they?

What a bunch of moronic right wing spins. What part of the concept of theft evades you? The guy is tring to earn a living on a shit minimum wage job and you find fault with him. You’re all making over $250K a year or you’re all stupid. Which is it?

Very funny title but totally misses the “wage theft” point. OPVD didn’t ask to be a part of the conference – we are a outside movement so we were outside. This is against the law in several states (inc. MA) stopping management from skimming “tributes” off tips. i.e. Waiters make a lower minimum and when people give a tip they think the worker is getting it not management keeping 15-25%. He actually explains it if you watch the video. Also there was a donation jar, nothing was being sold, OPVD doesn’t even have bumper stickers or buttons. There were 3 demands- Stop the 38 Studio (Curt Schillings Co.) Bailout of 100 Million dollars (welfare for the 1%) – Tax Equity returning to tax rates during the last great depression – and Solidarity not Austerity.
