Governor DeSantis was sworn in yesterday as the sunshine state’s 46th Governor, and his inauguration speech echoed in the atmosphere he’s been emphasizing as the days drew nearer to being sworn in. He’s mentioned that he’s ready to hit the ground running, and in his inauguration speech Governor DeSantis vowed “to leave Florida to God Better than we found it.”
He asserted that he’s “being charged with leading a state with so much promise,” and he promised to give “the sweat off my brow, a full heart, my best judgement and the courage of my convictions” in order to ensure that the sunshine state builds off of the work that Governor Rick Scott is leaving for DeSantis. A work that Governor DeSantis praised for ensuring that “a million and a half more Floridians have jobs” and that “our economy is one of the best in the nation.”DeSantis noted that his work as Governor will be driven by “the principles reflected in the constitutional oath I have just taken, and for which Americans have given their lives: that our rights are endowed by God, not government; that we the people loan power to government under the Constitution in order to protect our rights that government’s role is not to run our lives for us but to provide what Lincoln called “an open field and fair chance for one’s industry, enterprise and intelligence.””
Among a wide range of topics that the Governor vowed to tackle, such as lowering taxes and assuring that “Florida should place a greater emphasis on vocational and technical training, as there is honor in jobs that require vocational skills and those who work hard in these trades make great contributions to our society and should have our admiration,” he also placed emphasis on environmental concerns.
