At 94 years old, President George H.W. Bush has passed away.
In a statement released by President George W. Bush, he detailed that “Jeb, Neil, Marvin, Door, and I are saddened to announce that after 94 remarkable years, our dear dad has died. George H.W. Bush was a man of the highest character and the best dad a song or daughter could ask for. The entire Bush family is deeply grateful for 41’s life and love, for the compassion of those who have cared and prayed for Dad, and for the condolences of our dear friends and fellow citizens.”In recent years, Bush 41 was periodically hospitalized and battled a form of Parkinson’s disease while also dealing with moments of pneumonia. However, President George H.W. Bush served for one term as the United States’ 41st President from 1989 to 1993, and he also served as President Ronald Reagan’s Vice President from 1981 to 189.
Earlier in the year, on April 17th, First Lady Barbara Bush passed away at 92.

The two had been married for 73 years. She was known for her colorful personality, and President George H.W. Bush was known in recent years for his colorful dress socks.
Aside from service as Vice President and President, Bush 41 also represented Texas’ 7th Congressional District, was the US ambassador to the United Nations, he served as the Republican National Committee chair and he also served as director of the CIA.
As President of the United States, Bush 41 oversaw many foreign policy decisions that would have a lasting effect on the world. One such decision was to remove Manuel Noriega, Panamanian dictator, from power. In addition, Bush also held summits with Mikhail Gorbachev and was an advocate for the reduction of nuclear weapons while cultivating US-Soviet ties.After the Soviet Union fell, Bush 41 called the moment a “victory for democracy and freedom.”
His greatest test came in the form of Iraq, headed by Saddam Hussein, invading Kuwait due to accusations of stealing oil and conspiring to influence oil prices. In turn, Bush 41 formed a coalition of nations, which included the Soviet Union, and denounced Hussein’s actions to liberate Kuwait in “Operation Desert Shield” and then “Operation Desert Storm.”
Bush’ reelection bid was not successful, and he was defeated by President Bill Clinton. It came at a time of high unemployment rates and continued deficit spending while still facing achievements on a foreign level.
Still, Bush 41 relocated to Texas after his time in the White House, he remained active in the community, and he remained an influential figure.
When accepting the Presidential nomination in 1988 in New Orleans, Bush 41 explained that “I am a man who sees life in terms of missions — missions defined and missions completed.”
