I never thought that calling someone by their first name would be upsetting to anyone.
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum has taken exception with his opponent, Republican Ron DeSantis, for referring to him as “Andrew” and not “Mr. Gillum” or “Mayor.”Gillum calls DeSantis Congressman DeSantis or Mr.DeSantis.
“All of a sudden without invitation, he was calling me Andrew. Now between the two of us, he quit his job in Congress, but I’m a sitting mayor, and he had the nerve to address me only as Andrew,” said Gillum to the Tampa Bay Times
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
DeSantis said that Gillum was trying to make something out of nothing, then added he would be more than accommodating in formalizing the way he addresses his opponent.
“But if he wants to have formal titles, I’ll do it, but I’ve got to be honest about it,” DeSantis said. “Maybe we can call him Failed Mayor Gillum, because of the crime rate. Or maybe we’ll call him Crooked Mayor Gillum for accepting illegal gifts. Maybe we call him Radical Mayor Gillum for signing the Dream Defenders Pledge.”
Election day is less than a week away.
