Andrew Gillum has been heavily criticized by Republicans and by his opponent, Congressman Ron DeSantis, for having radical positions on economic and education issues.
Americans for Prosperity-Action, a group that supports expanded school choice options and free market solutions, has just released a 30-second advertisement titled Andrew Gillum is Too Extreme for Florida.In addition, the group is also released a direct mail campaign that blasts the Tallahassee Mayor.
Chris Hudson, AFP-Actions’s Senior Advisor, commented on the group’s measures, echoed Congressman DeSantis by saying that Mayor Gillum is too extreme for the Sunshine State.

Hudson explained that “Andrew Gillum’s agenda is too extreme for Florida. His plan for the economy? Raise taxes that hurt Florida businesses and families. His plan for health-care? Take away your health insurance and cut access to Floridians on Medicaid by expanding a broken system. His plan for education? Destroy successful programs that give students a hand up in achieving their goals. We can’t afford Andrew Gillum.”
Mayor Gillum has been criticized for supporting Medicaid expansion, a single payer health-care system and for support Senator Bernie Sanders’ “Medicare for All” plan. Gillum also received Bernie Sanders’ endorsement, and they have both campaigned together in South Florida. AFP’s campaign blasts Gillum’s plan for wanting to raise taxes on businesses to support his propositions.
