Governor Rick Scott has just released a new advertisement touting his educational accomplishments in Florida as its Governor. This advertisement comes days after Senator Bill Nelson, his opponent in the senate race, released an advertisement saying that Governor Rick Scott had “failed” when it came to education in Florida.
However, Governor Scott’s campaign said that the new advertisement “highlights how Florida’s incredible economic turnaround under Governor Scott has led to unprecedented achievement and funding for education in Florida.”In the 30-second advertisement titled First, Governor Scott asserts that Florida’s “strong economy” has translated to “4th grade reading and math scores … 8th grade reading … High school AP classes and college education … ranked first in the nation.”
Although the Senate race between Senator Nelson and Governor Scott shows them neck and neck in polling, Governor Rick Scott has outperformed the Senator in terms of money invested in the race and in terms of releasing advertisements that have attacked the Senators negative influence on the economy and calling Senator Nelson a “career politician” who hasn’t done much while in office.
