The culmination of months of campaigning has arrived as Congressman Ron DeSantis and Florida Agricultural Commissioner Adam Putnam look to secure the primary nomination for Florida’s gubernatorial race in the upcoming November midterm elections.
Although leading in the polls early on in the race, Congressman Ron DeSantis began surging in the polls after President Trump endorsed him via a tweet. This week, the President even recorded robocalls for DeSantis that voters have been listening to.Since Trump endorsed DeSantis, Putnam has been climbing back in the polls, but DeSantis still edges him out. Still, Putnam says that he has “No regrets. We’ve left heart and soul out there on the field, given every ounce of energy we’ve had to it. This is what grassroots politics is meant to be.”
When casting today’s vote, Putnam explained that it was “a choice between the Washington way and putting Florida first, and I believe Floridians are going to choose to put Florida first, to build on the strong economy we have. Washington ought to be operating more like Florida, not the other way around.”
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
In his campaign, Commissioner Putnam has prided himself on running with a “Florida First” agenda, and he’s been heavily critical of “D.C. DeSantis.”
However, it’s all in the hands of Florida voters now.
