When Senator John McCain announced he had brain cancer and that he would be undertaking treatment, bipartisan support poured in citing the Senator’s military background and service in the Senate. Now, the Senator’s family has announced that McCain will be discontinuing the treatment, and an air of sadness accompanies this because we might be nearing the end of a life dedicated to serving the country on the frontlines and as a lawmaker.
In a statement, the McCain family announced that “Last summer, Senator John McCain shared with Americans the news our family already knew: he had been diagnosed with an aggressive glioblastoma, and the prognosis was serious. In the year since, John has surpassed expectations for his survival. But the progress of disease and the inexorable advance of age render their verdict. With his usual strength of will, he has now chosen to discontinue medical treatment.”As the family made this announcement, Florida lawmakers took to social media to share their words of support and encouragement. Lawmakers like Senator Marco Rubio, Senator Bill Nelson, Representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and others flooded to share their bipartisan thoughts on the matter.
.@SenJohnMcCain has always been kind to me. I am so sorry to hear this news and my heart goes out to him, @cindymccain, and their entire family. John McCain is the epitome of a patriot and a gentleman.

Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
John McCain is going to finish the race the way he has done everything in his life, his way and on his terms. May God bless him & his family as he completes the final leg of his inspiring and heroic journey. https://t.co/agocouXj2N
