Congressman Ron DeSantis and Representative Matt Gaetz have embarked on their Freedom Tour, and the first stop was at the Fish House in downtown Pensacola as early voting is underway in Escambia County.
Both lawmakers were joined by Ohio Representative Jim Jordan, and the three sat down in a talk-show format to answer questions from the 150 or so people in attendance. While both Florida lawmakers have been endorsed by President Trump in their respective midterm election bids, Gaetz commented that “I’m sure a lot of folks would love to see me lose my primary, not because they care about Northwest Florida, but they want to take out one of Trump’s guys — one of Trump’s fighters.”
Congressman DeSantis noted that Democrats and his opponent Adam Putnam have been on the attack, but it’s only because “They’re worried that they’ll have a governor in there that they can’t control.”

In addition, recent controversy surrounding Jordan was brought up, which concerns a claim over his knowledge of a former Ohio State University doctor having several sexual abuse allegations against him by the university’s wrestling team while Jordan was the assistant wrestling coach between 1986 and 1994.
This claim, Jordan shot down.
He detailed that “If you support the president they’re coming after you. If you’re conservative, they’re coming after you. That’s all three of us. Again, you’ve got to stay focused on just doing what you said (you’d do in office). What I’ve found is as I go around my district, the number of people that walk up to you and say ‘We’re praying for you. We’re thinking of you.’ I’m sure these guys get the same thing every day. That is so encouraging, and people see through the B.S.”
