Florida Governor Rick Scott’s office announced this weekend that Mike Carroll was stepping down as the head of Florida’s Child-Welfare Agency.
In a statement, Governor Scott praised Carroll’s work, saying that “Mike embodies the ideals and mission of the Department … and has devoted nearly three decades to improve and change the lives of Florida’s vulnerable children and families.” Governor Scott also noted that “Mike’s tenure as secretary is the longest in DCF’s 21-year history.”The release also commented that Carroll helped oversee “expanded substance abuse treatment services statewide, including medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorders; achieved record numbers of adoptions; (and) championed anti-human trafficking efforts. Throughout his career, Mike has focused on innovative solutions to complicated problems, finding ways to enable better outcomes for children and families.”
Carroll is explained to have inherited a system that was “clearly broken, leaving children unprotected and at risk.”
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
However, a replacement was not named in the statement, and there have been no reports since then explaining who will be the new head of the agency.
Before heading the Child-Welfare Agency, Carroll also worked for the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services.
