Congressman Ron DeSantis held a rally at the Trump National Golf Club over the weekend, and he fired up his supporters by discussing national politics. After receiving the endorsement of President Donald Trump last month in DeSantis’ gubernatorial bid against Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam, DeSantis assured at the rally that he’s “working hard with the president to drain that swamp.”
DeSantis noted that he is “the leading supporter for term limits in Congress right now. Adam Putnam opposes term limits,” and he commented that “If I’m governor, I want to work with other states and get momentum behind this movement. The people in Washington are going to be as scared as can be; we can drain the swamp through the state.”
Mark Levin, a conservative political commentator also joined DeSantis at the rally and he doubled down on the need for a national political focus, saying that “As Florida goes, so goes the nation. This is a national race.”
And, Levin also took shots at DeSantis’ opponent, saying that DeSantis is the true conservative and asking “In what way is Adam Putnam a conservative? I can’t think of one. I can think of a thousand ways Ron is a conservative.”
