The race to replace term-limited Florida Governor Rick Scott has seen Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam and Congressman Ron DeSantis exchange comments, gain endorsements and face controversies, but now President Trump has officially endorsed Congressman DeSantis by sending out a tweet explaining why Congressman DeSantis is best suited to be the next Governor of the sunshine state.
Congressman Ron DeSantis, a top student at Yale and Harvard Law School, is running for Governor of the Great State of Florida. Ron is strong on Borders, tough on Crime & big on Cutting Taxes – Loves our Military & our Vets. He will be a Great Governor & has my full Endorsement!

In response to the endorsement, Putnam’s campaign spoke about his comfortable lead in the polls. Meredith Beatrice, a spokeswoman for Putnam’s campaign, commented that “As the Fox News poll indicates, grassroots momentum behind his Florida First vision continues to grow. Adam looks forward to working with President Trump as Florida’s next governor to keep our economy thriving, taxes low and our borders secure.”
Commissioner Putnam has raised about three times more than DeSantis, and he’s used that money to get on the airwaves with advertisements. For late June, Congressman DeSantis has raised up to $12 million for advertisements, which would be the first time that congressman DeSantis will be seen on tv. This is still considered the most effective way for candidates to reach supporters and gain their support.
In response to President Trump’s endorsement, Congressman DeSantis took to his Facebook page to write that he was “absolutely honored to receive the FULL ENDORSEMENT of President Donald Trump.”
