Representative Manny Diaz, now running for Senate District 36, has announced that his campaign has crossed the $500k mark. Receiving donations in April that added up to more than $35,00 in April, his committee “Better Florida Education” has brought in more that $200,000 that will help him move from the House of Representatives to the Senate.
In a statement highlighting the achievement, Representative Manny Diaz explained that “These numbers represent real momentum for our vision for Florida. I’m grateful and encouraged by the strong support we’re seeing from so many friends and concerned citizens who are investing in our campaign. We’re going to keep working hard to grow our team, and I look forward to continuing to work hard to strengthen and expand educational opportunities in Florida.”
So far, Representative Diaz only has one declared opponent, Democrat Muhammad Amin, but he has not yet filed any financial information with the Florida Division of Elections. In addition, Diaz’s announcement comes at a time when he has received many endorsements from Florida Mayors that back his Senate bid.
The District that Diaz is running for covers parts of Broward counties and Miami-Dade counties, and the race aims to replace Senator Rene Garcia who is term-limited.
