President Donald Trump’s pick to head the CIA, Gina Haspel, is currently undergoing her confirmation hearing from the Senate Intelligence Committee, and both Florida Senators Marco Rubio and Bill Nelson seem to be throwing their support behind Haspel.
Met with Gina Haspel, nominee to be the next director of the @CIA. Given her experience as a career intelligence officer, I am confident that Gina will be a great leader for the CIA. pic.twitter.com/JwSnP8kvGd

Calling her a “great leader,” Senator Marco Rubio took time in his comments during the questioning to praise Haspel’s 30 years of experience and, if confirmed as the permanent Director, she would be making history as the first female CIA director. She’s also the second female to become Deputy CIA Director.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Senator Bill Nelson, although disagreeing with Haspel’s involvement in working with a CIA “black site” prison, explained to the Hill that “The fact is that that was then, and now is now. They were operating under what was the accepted practice of the day.”
Since being nominated by President Trump, Haspel has drawn controversy for her supposed support for certain detention and interrogation programs. This has drawn criticism leading up to the hearing, and it’s also brought about many questions that people want answered. But, in her hearing, she doubled down and said that under her watch the CIA would not continue said practices.
Besides this, Haspel has drawn support from both Democrats and Republicans.
