Florida Governor Rick Scott is putting his money where his mouth by proposing a $500 million school safety and mental health investment less than two weeks after the deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida.
Scott’s proposal is not completely inline with the NRA position on guns and background checks, but could get the support of even the toughest of gun supporters who wouldn’t mind seeing tougher background checks, seeing the age of buying a firearm raised to 21, and having an armed resource officer stationed at every school.Today in Miami, I brought together leaders to speak about our major action plan to keep students safe in Florida schools, including a $500 million investment in school safety and mental health. https://t.co/MiF2e2STV2 pic.twitter.com/hvqmS0ozMa
