The scandal regarding the now- fired and criminally charged Imran Awan, who was the go-to IT aide for many Democratic members of the U.S. Congress, has all been swept under the rug.“The House and Republican rule has not been as effective as it needs to be in doing oversight…”-Rep.Ron DeSantis (R)
At least that is what the perception of what has happened among many Americans, as well as members of the U.S.Congress.
In a recent interview with Florida Congressman Ron DeSantis (R) during a recent House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform hearing, the junior member of congress talked about a meeting he held with several other members of congress to discuss the lack of transparency in the ongoing Awan scandal.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
DeSantis, who said he would like to bring in Awan in front of the Oversight Committee, expressed his frustration over the lack of effort by House Republican Leadership that has all-but but shut down any potential House investigation into the matter.
DeSantis questioned why someone who remotely accessed and transferred vital House of Representative information from Pakistan hasn’t been hauled in front of the congress.
The House and Republican rule has not been as effective as it needs to be in doing oversight, I mean, you remember the Clinton Foundation? When that that scandal broke, we were barred from the leadership from doing one hearing, one subpoena, nothing in the congress about the Clinton Foundation. You had all this money going into the foundation from foreign governments, you had money going to Bill Clinton from foreign governments, you had Hillary taking action as Secretary of State.
DeSantis said the “the house never” went after the Clintons, adding that he doesn’t want to see the same lack of action taken in the Awan case.
There is concern that this is not going to be investigated as zealously as it needs to be. This has the potential to be the biggest scandal in congress since the House Banking scandal in the early nineties. In order to get the facts, you really have to go at it. Why that hasn’t been done so far, I can’t answer that.
DeSantis believes that a thorough investigation into the matter by the Department of Justice (DOJ) could “take care of some of the Democrats who are implicated.”
Will House Republican leadership allow DeSantis and others like Rep. Trey Gowdy (R), who both sit not the House Oversight Committee, to call for an investigation into the involvement of several Democratic members of congress, including Reps. Ted Deutch, Lois Frankel, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz? The Daily Caller’s Luke Rosiak has been spearheading the media probe into the scandal.
