Bal Harbour Village Mayor Gabriel Groisman has received criticism for denying the Village residents from seeking a referendum regarding the upscale Bal Harbour Shops’ expansion.
Protests erupted as a result, and residents filed a lawsuit last month against their local government, arguing that Dwight S. Danie, Village clerk, refused to count 200+ petitions that were collected in order to force the referendum. This dispute will surely culminate in a Village of Bal Harbour workshop being hosted tomorrow, which will hold discussion on the new plans for the Bal Harbour Shops expansion. The workshop will be held from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Sea View Hotel located on 9909 Collins Ave. Bal Harbour, Florida 33154.
As the city council convenes to discuss the Shops doubling of size, litigation is still ongoing because the city is reportedly refusing to acknowledge the petitions that were collected by residents.

Critics are voicing their concerns over the doubling of the size of the Shops, citing the increased traffic it will bring to the community and the negative impact it will have on their quality of life. Said residents are giving new meaning to the phrase “it takes a village,” and all gloves will be off at tomorrow’s workshop.
