In an interview with Shark Tank’s Javier Manjarres, Republican Florida Representative Mario Diaz- Balart sat down to talk about Healthcare and what needs to be tackled in order to make it effective and affordable for the American people.
Diaz Balart explained that the important things for him in reforming the current healthcare system include “Getting rid of central control, taking the Federal Bureaucrats out of the decision of what insurance we get, what insurance we don’t get… In other words, get rid of the central planning atmosphere that exists right now with healthcare. But, I also want to make sure, and this is key, that those that are truly vulnerable, and there are many, do not have the rug pulled out from them with no options.”Who are the people that are truly vulnerable when it comes to reforming healthcare?
He explained that the people he’s most concerned about when it comes to changes in healthcare is someone “from 50 or 55 to 64 years old who is not poor enough to be on Medicaid but poor.” The reason being because people who are older, poor and have a fixed income are potentially the folks that can get hurt the worst. What I’m focused on more than anything else is on that. On those folks.”
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
In addition, he also explained that “In the best case scenario, that group is still very vulnerable.”
On the campaign trail, President Trump ran on repealing and replacing Obamacare. Mario Diaz Balart agrees with the President on Americans being able to purchase healthcare across state lines, but he acknowledges that the battle for healthcare reform is a complicated one.
As for what he’s doing during the arduous process, it’s just “aggressively working and negotiating to improve and get it better.”House Republican leadership says that the effort to repeal and replace Obamacare is not dead in the water, even though they pulled their American Health Care Act before the vote was taken.
