Judge Neil Gorsuch, President Trump’s Supreme Court choice to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia, sat before the Senate Judiciary Committee to hear opening statements from the very Senators that will be questioning him during the confirmation process.
While Republicans Senators like Mike Lee, Ted Cruz, and John Cornyn, praised Gorsuch over his life’s work in public service, Democrats like Senators Whitehouse and Durbin signaled how the Democratic Caucus in the Senate were going to attack Trump’s Supreme Court nominee.Durbin told Grouch (pictured) that he was going to have his “hands full with this president,” if he was confirmed to replace Justice Scalia.
“You’re going to have your hands full with this president…He’s going to keep you busy.”
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Durbin then said that “most Americans” did not agree with Trump, and questioned why White House Chief of Staff Reince Preibus recently stated that Gorguch was all-but lock-step with President Trump and his “vision.”
Democrats will most likely attack Gorsuch by invoking the very man who nominated him for the position.
You can bet your last dollar that it will be Trump, not Gorsuch, who will be testifying in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee.Look for Democrats to attempt to tie the judge and Trump to the hip by asking him questions on President Trump’s campaign promises, tweets, and on positions, like the “wall” and the travel ban.
“I will do all in my power,” he said, “to be a faithful servant of the Constitution and laws of this great nation.”-Judge Neil Grouch
