New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said Republicans should hold town halls even if it means confronting hundreds of angry progressive constituents.
He told CNN’s Jake Tapper on State of the Union Sunday :Welcome to the real world of responsibility.
Christie’s comments come after a week of massive crowds showing up at GOP town halls to protest President Donald Trump and Republican’s efforts to repeal Obamacare.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
He said some of the attendees are “professional protestors” and said elected officials have to “work through” it. He said “you’ve got to stand up, let them yell themselves out.”
As Governor of New Jersey, Christie held more than 160 town halls and his advice for Republican lawmakers is:
I understand why members of Congress don’t like it. But you know what? You asked for the job. Go do it.
