The political mixed martial arts cage match between Florida Governor Rick Scott and Florida House Speaker and resident “Orkin man,”Richard Corcoran, continues as the Florida legislature filed a bill that would eliminate Scott’s two job creation government entities, Visit Florida and Enterprise Florida.
Talk about delivering a unexpected body blow that knocks the wind out of you.Geesh, that had to hurt.
Scott has recently asked the Legislature to pony up $85 million in more funding for Enterprise Florida, and another $76 million for Visit Florida. (TB Times)
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Corcoran, who believes that funding such government entities to entice business by flashing money at them is “corporate welfare,” says that Scott is not going to get the money he needs.
Groups like Americans for Prosperity, the nation’s largest grassroots organization, backs Corcoran’s play against “corporate welfare.”
“The time has come to eliminate corporate welfare in Florida…Floridians don’t deserve for their tax dollars to be used to recruit businesses to compete against them. They don’t deserve the millions of dollars in waste that produced an abysmal return on investment which is contrary to what politicans of the past promised would come. Once these cuts are made, Florida lawmakers should focus those resources on real infrastructure needs and make further cuts to burdensome regulations, or empower taxpayers and entrepenuers by giving that money back to them. This is a major step in making Florida stand out as the best state to raise a family and start a business.”- AFP Florida State Director Chris Hudson
In case you are wondering why we refer to Corcoran as the “Orkin man,” its because he recently said that the spending issues over at Enterprise Florida was like turning on the kitchen light at 3 a.m. and finding cockroaches or cucarachas running for cover.
We hope that “Cucarachas” Corcoran was not speaking about the current condition at his home 😉
More on this ongoing fight between Corcoran and Scott to come…
