The tragic mass shooting at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, where 5 individuals died, has sent Democrats into an anti-gun bill-filing frenzy.
Fort Lauderdale state Sen. Gary Farmer (D) says he is ready to file a bill that would require background checks on those looking to purchase firearms at gun shows.“Last week horror came to our state and to the Fort Lauderdale airport…That horror came in the form of a deranged man who should’ve never been allowed to buy, own or in any way possess a dangerous firearm.”- Sen. Gary Farmer (D)-OS
Democrats like Farmer believe a “loophole” exists that allows gun dealers to sell firearms at gun shows without background checks.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
The Democrats are wrong.
Only individuals who have a concealed carry license are allowed to walk out of a gun show with a purchased firearm, while those who do not possess the permit must wait a minimum of (3) days to allow for a thorough background check before the weapon is released to them.
So, those who carry a conceal carry permit have already gone through Florida’s required and standard background check.Meanwhile, Farmer’s college in the state Senate, Sen. Linda Stewart (D), has filed a bill to ban the sale of “assault weapons,” even though the weapon used at the airport was hand gun.
You can’t really blame Democrats from trying push their anti-gun agenda following a shooting where the alleged shooter had some obvious mental health issues.
Expect more of these kinds of gun bills to be filed both at the state and federal levels. With Republicans controlling both chambers of the Florida legislature and the U.S. Congress, chances are that these anti-gun bills are already dead on arrival.
