The list of contenders for the Secretary of State role under a Trump administration has been closely watched by critics and supporters alike. There were disagreements when Romney’s name was mentioned as a possibility and the same for Rudy Giuliani who ended up removing himself altogether from becoming a cabinet member.

Now, Rex Tillerson, CEO of Exxon Mobil, has emerged as Trump’s possible Secretary of State choice, and rumblings suggest that he’s likeliest to get the position.

With that, comes contention.

Amidst John McCain (R) and Lindsey Graham (R) joining a bipartisan effort to investigate any possible interference on behalf of Russia to sway the 2016 Presidential election in Donald Trump’s favor, Florida Senator Marco Rubio took to twitter to voice his disapproval of Tillerson as Secretary of State. This is also the first time that the Senator has criticized the upcoming administration since endorsing Trump in the general election.

Marco Rubio has been a vocal critic of Vladimir Putin and has also given his support to investigating any Russian intervention in the past Presidential election, but critics argue that this is the work of the establishment undermining Trump and discrediting his win against Hillary Clinton.
