Many names were thrown in the ring for the Attorney General position under the Trump administration. Chris Christie, Rudy Giuliani, and Trey Gowdy were all rumored to be taking on the role, but today it was announced that Donald Trump has chosen Senator Jeff Sessions for the position.
Senator Sessions was an early supporter of Trump, and he went on the campaign trail for now President-elect Donald Trump.Vocal on immigration reform, Sessions had a conversation with our own Javier Manjarres during a judiciary committee hearing for then-Attorney General Eric Holder. During their 30-minute or so stroll to his office in the Rayburn building, Senator Sessions explained in detail how the creation of the now infamous Senate Gang of 8 Immigration Reform of 2013 went down. He explained that he was disappointed in Florida Senator Marco Rubio, saying that he warned and advised Rubio not to go down the same path as Senators Chuck Schumer and Dick Durbin. Rubio didn’t listen, and later on had to back down from the bill.
Sessions was elected Attorney General of Alabama in 1994.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
He’s also been a Senator for Alabama since 1996.
“Sen. Sessions’ solid understanding of the Constitution and firm commitment to the rule of law is exactly what the Justice Department needs. I have worked closely with Sen. Sessions on the Judiciary Committee over these past six years and I have every confidence that he will make a great Attorney General for all Americans.”-Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT)
