For Democratic congressional nominee Joe Garcia, receiving the support of his national political party is better welcomed late, than never at all.
After hacked Democratic Party emails were release to the public showing concern over a Garcia congressional nomination in the toss-up seat currently being held by Republican Rep. Carlos Curbelo, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has finally backed their nominee. The case can be made that the DCCC reluctantly backed Garcia.
“Congressman Joe Garcia has spent his entire life in public service, working for his community and making sure everyone can achieve the American dream. From fighting to protect the Affordable Care Act, to effectively working towards fixing our broken immigration system, Joe has always stood by these values.

Ben Luján
This is good news for Garcia, but the national party hoped that they would have been putting their weight behind someone else, and not Garcia.
During the contentious democratic primary race in Florida’s 26th congressional district, the DCCC backed Garcia’s opponent, Annette Taddeo. Democrats believed Taddeo was the less-flawed of the two candidates. They were right.
Garcia will now have his rematch with Rep. Curbelo. The ‘Hoverboard’ congressman from Miami, who has the full support of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), first beat then-incumbent Rep. Garcia in the 2014 general election.
This race is one of the most watched congressional races in the country. Considering how the district hints at leaning Democratic, expect this race to go down to the wire.
