Florida’s Congressional Primary Election Night Results

Florida’s primary election is over and now the table is set for this November’s general election.

Here are the results of some of the most contentious races across the Sunshine State:

Senator Marco Rubio defeats Carlos Beruff

Rep. Patrick Murphy beats Rep. Alan Grayson. Grayson got smacked down. Click here

U.S. House of Representatives

FL CD 18

Brian Mast (pictured) crushes field of six to win GOP nomination. Click here

Randy Perkins beats Jonathan Chane, will face Mast.

FL CD 19

Former Ambassador Francis Rooney runs away from Chauncey Goss and Dan Bongino. Rooney will be the next member of Congress in this GOP-leaning congressional seat. Click here

FL CD 4

Sheriff John Rutherford was expected to win his race, and did. Rutherford obliterated the field.

FL CD 5

Democrat Rep. Corrine Brown, a 24-year member of Congress, was defeated by Democrat Al Lawson. Brown’s federal indictments may have had something to do with her big loss.

FL CD 6

Rep. Ron DeSantis (R) left his Senate race and jumped back in to his old seat. Desantis won big over Rep. Fred Costello.

FL CD 7

Incumbent Rep. John Mica (R) easily defeated his primary challenger, Mark Busch.

FL CD 9

Rep. Darren Soto (D) defeated Rep. Alan Grayson’s wife and his former consultant in this high profile primary election. Grayson also lost his Senate primary race. Bad night for the Graysons.

FL CD 13

Rep. David Jolly also won convincingly over Mark Bircher and will take on Republican-turned-Independent-turned-Democrat, Charlie Crist in November

FL CD 23

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who resigned as chair of the DNC, faced a tough liberal primary opponent in Tim Canova. Debbie was going to win this race all along.

Too close to know

FL CD 1

State Rep. Matt Gaetz wins his crowded race convincingly, and will be next member of Congress in this district.

FL CD 2

After months of jabs thrown at one another, the GOP primary race between Mary Thomas and Dr. Neal Dunn is over. Dunn defeats Thomas.

FL CD 26

The Waxman, former Rep. Joe Garcia was locked in a super tight race with Annette Taddeo. In the end, Garcia will face Republican Congressman Carlos Curbelo in November. This along with FL CD, will be the most watched congressional races in the country.
