U.S Representative Corrine Brown’s attorneys were allowed to withdraw and now she is getting more time to find new lawyers.
The Florida Times-Union reported that U.S. Magistrate James Klindt allowed attorneys Mark NeJame and David Haas to leave the case on Tuesday. They said in a court filing that hostility and distrust was the reason why they could no longer work with Brown.
Brown is due back in court on September 7 for a follow-up.
So far she has had three sets of lawyers and she is being charged with 22 counts that include conspiracy and wire fraud. Prosecutors say the charges stem from a “charity” that in reality was a $800,000 personal slush fund.
