The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has been hacked by Guccifer 2.0, and the groups internal emails are out for the political world to read. The hack exposed the DCCC’s strategies, dossiers, detailed reports about Democratic congressional primary races in Florida.
One of the congressional seats that Democrats are hoping to win and retain in this election cycle is the one in Florida’s 18th congressional district.Independent-turned-Democrat Randy Perkins, who is favored by establishment Democrats over Attorney Jonathan Chane, could face a tough general election, if he were to face double-amputee U.S. Army veteran, Brian Mast.
Here is what the DCCC’s research says about Perkins’ “vulnerability” against Brian Mast:
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Weaknesses: Randy has some big vulnerability given his business dealings. His campaign has also displayed a tendency to spend wastefully and to make sometimes erratic decisions. If his republican opponent is Mast he will be vulnerable to character attacks and will likely see a lot of outside spending. Â
According to some Democratic operatives who wish to stay anonymous, “Brian Mast is a nightmare for the Democratic Party.”
It is going to be very difficult to attack Mast with out conjuring up massive nationwide sympathy for him. Brian Mast is a nightmare for the Democratic Party.”-Democratic consultant
While Mast may appear to be a “nightmare” for Democrats, Mast may be his own worst nightmare.
It what can only be described as sheer laziness, since first entering the race back in May 2015, Brian Mast has failed to file his financial disclosure forms.
By doing a simple search on the Office of the Clerk for the U.S. House of Representatives website, both Democratic and Republican candidates running in Florida’s 18th congressional district have all filed their financial disclosure forms.
All except for Brian Mast.
According to House protocol, candidates and members who fail to file their financial disclosure forms are then turned over to the House Ethics Committee, who address the matter first before turning it over  to the State Department. With fellow Republicans Rebecca Negron, Mark Freeman, Rick Kozell and Carl Domino breathing down his neck in this contentious primary race, why would Mast commit such an unforced error?
This and other congressional races will be decided on August 30th, primary election night.
