Cape Coral, Florida- Former Ambassador to the Vatican City and now congressional candidate Francis Rooney, held a rally to announce the formal endorsement he received from former Republican presidential candidate, Dr. Ben Carson.
During a press conference with reporters after the rally, Carson said that Rooney’s “vision for America closely resembled” his, and that the two were brought together by mutual friends.Rooney took questions about the race, and was specifically asked about the ongoing water crisis that Florida faces due to the toxic algae outbreak that is decimating some of the state’s waterways.
One reported effectively teed it up for Rooney by asking him what he thought about Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

Don’t ask Rooney what committees he wants to sit on if elected to Congress, as he appears to be focused  first winning his race.
Rooney is running in a contested Republican primary race against Dan Bongino and local City Councilman Chauncey Goss. The winner of this primary race is all but assured to be the next member of the U.S. Congress.
