Florida’s Republican electorate still wants Senator Marco Rubio to run for re-election to the Senate, but that is unlikely going to happen, as Rubio himself has stated that he won’t enter the race.
There seems to be some separation between the existing Republican senatorial candidates already in the race, as the latest Mason-Dixon poll has homebuilder Carlos Beruff now leading the pack, followed by Rep. David Jolly and Rep. Ron DeSantis.
The poll shows Rubio garnering 77 percent support from GOP voters, and a 48-37 percent advantage with Independents.
Beruff leads with 17 percent, followed by Jolly with 13 percent, DeSantis with 10 percent, and Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera with 10 percent support.
With that said, it is still important to point out that the candidate in the race better known as “undecided.” has the clear lead with 49 percent of Republicans supporting him or her.
Yes, 49 percent of voting Republicans and another 43 percent of voting Democrats, are not sure who they will support when election day comes around.
Expect these numbers to change drastically in the coming weeks as all of the candidates will begin to spend their campaign dollars.
Beruff has already spent about $3 million.
