Now that the U.S. Senate seat is up for grabs after Senator Marco Rubio abandoned his seat for his failed presidential run. Yet another major endorsement has been made for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. U.S. Representative Patrick Murphy received former Florida Governor and U.S. Senator Bob Graham’s backing.
Senator Graham is Rep. Gwen Graham’s father.“Patrick is the right candidate to lead Florida in the U.S. Senate,” Graham said in a statement. “His strong democratic values guide him and Floridians can trust Patrick to represent what is best for our hardworking families.”
“Patrick has the right priorities and I’m proud to support him as Florida’s next Senator.” – U.S. Senator Bob Graham (Orlando Sentinel)
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
In response to Graham’s statement, Murphy replies:
“Senator Graham led Florida as a consensus builder and champion for middle class families, and our state was lucky to benefit from his leadership and service.”
“I’m so thankful for Senator Graham’s support and look forward to representing Floridians in his unifying spirit in the U.S. Senate.”
To add onto this endorsement, Murphy has also racked up numerous statewide endorsements, union and group endorsements, state legislative endorsements, and local endorsements. He’s gained the support of President Obama, Vice President Biden, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, the Florida Teamsters, the Florida Alliance for Retired Americans, State Senator Audrey Gibson, State Senator Joseph Abruzzo, Mayor of Tallahassee Andrew Gillum, and Mayor of Tampa Bob Buckhorn, to name a few of a long list of many.
Murphy, who ran for Congress as a centrist, and now is looking to do the same in his U.S. Senate primary race against his liberal Democratic opponent Rep. Alan Grayson, may have to veer to the left to counter momentum that Grayson has garnered with their party’s progressive base.
If Murphy does attempt to embrace the Democratic Party’s “Liberal base,” will he go as far as Senator Bob Graham did in giving a full throated endorsement of abortion and the heinous practice of late term abortion?
