The super PAC supporting Marco Rubio will not be putting in any money for TV ads after Florida’s primary. It is a sign Rubio’s closest supporters are uncertain about his future.
The Conservative Solutions PAC, has spent $39 million this cycle lashing out against Rubio’s opponents and promoting the senator’s candidacy. $9.7 million of that amount was spent in Florida so far. It is more than double any other group. After Tuesday they have not reserved any air time according to Kantar Media/CMAG, a media tracking firm.
In the past the super PAC did reserve air time in advance. Its decision to avoid launching further TV ads is a sign the Senator’s campaign could be over if he loses to Donald Trump in Florida.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
The PAC’s spokesman, Jeff Sadosky would not discuss the group’s spending decisions. He said:
Rubio himself has suggested he may not be able to continue after Tuesday. He said whoever wins the Sunshine State will ultimately become the GOP nominee but he has not explicitly said he’d leave the race if he loses Florida. We’re focused on Tuesday, and we’ll have more for you afterward.
Rubio’s campaign has not reserved any TV air time in any of the states after Florida as well. In fact, they have not spent any money on TV ad’s in Florida either. The only ads they bought were small ones in Idaho and Hawaii.
With all that being said, Rubio’s campaign has dismissed the public polls and Rubio himself has vowed to “shock” the political world by winning Florida and its 99 delegates.
