After we first reported that he was seriously considering a run for the U.S. Senate in Florida, and after months of speculation as to when and if he would launch his Senate bid to replace outgoing Senator Marco Rubio, former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino has decided not to run for the seat, rather endorse Rep. Ron DeSantis.
Here is what Bongino posted on his Facebook page:This Senate race just got that more interesting with Bongino backing DeSantis. Manatee County home builder and Gov. Rick Scott ally, Carlos Beruff, will be announcing his Senate candidacy early next week.Friends,
Thank you very much for your continued support and encouragement, and for your kind words on this page. I’m honored that you have chosen to allow me into your lives in this small way, via this page, and I do my best to put substance here that matters to you. I refuse to waste your valuable time. Many of you have asked me about my political future and about endorsements for 2016 and it’s time to answer those questions. I will not be running for Florida’s open United States Senate seat in 2016. I made this decision because, after careful deliberation, and numerous personal conversations, I feel that we have a superb candidate for the seat already in the race. That candidate is Congressman Ron DeSantis.

Walking away wasn’t an easy decision but, after getting to know Ron DeSantis, I am confident that he is the right man at the right time.
I respectfully request that you join me in supporting Congressman Ron DeSantis for United States Senate.
Beruff will join Lt. Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera, Todd Wilcox, Rep. David Jolly, and Rep. Ron DeSantis, in the already hotly contested Republican senatorial primary race to replace Rubio.
