Not sure why Obama is planning to skip Justice Antonin Scalia’s funeral but that is what he plans on doing as confirmed by the White House.
They said he plans on paying his respects on Friday when Scalia’s body lies in repose in the Great Hall of the Supreme Court building. As Obama has done many times in the past, he will send Vice President Joe Biden to attend Scalia’s funeral.When the press tried to get more information as to why the president was skipping Scalia’s funeral, White House press secretary Josh Earnest did not answer them. Instead he repeated the president’s intention to visit on Friday.
The press even asked if Obama planned on going golfing instead and again Earnest did not respond.

Despite push back from Republicans, Obama has insisted he will nominate a replacement to serve on the Supreme Court. He has even went so far as to say he regretted his fillibuster in 2006 of a conservative Supreme Court nominee.
At the time Obama was a second-year senator from Illinois and he was joined by 23 other Democrats who tried but failed to block President Bush’s pick, Samuel Alito.
Republicans have accused Obama of being a hypocrite for demanding the GOP-c0ntrolled Senate vote on the person he nominates whom will most likely be a liberal.
