Donald Trump was at Liberty University on Monday giving the convocation. Liberty University is one of the largest and most prominent Christian colleges in the county.
His time there did not go exactly as he had planned.Trump tripped over himself as he attempted to quote from the Bible. He said:
Two Corinthians, 3:17, that’s the whole ballgame.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
The crowd laughed because what he was trying to say is “Second Corinthians.”
He was able to bounce back when he said:
Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
That passage got applause from the crowd.
Trump then emphasized the need to defend Christianity, which he said was “under siege.”
He also said:
Trump urged Christians to “band together.”We’re going to protect Christianity, I don’t have to be politically correct. We’ve got to protect because bad things are happening. Very bad things are happening.
Then he messed up again. Liberty University students are not allowed to curse. I know, I went there. If we cursed we got written up and even possibly fined.
His use of “hell” in reference to the U.S. conflicts in the Middle East (wanting to “knock the hell out of” ISIS, or “we don’t know what the hell we’re doing”) rubbed the students the wrong way.
