Just a few years ago, the case could have be made that money can buy a lot of things, including a congressional seat.
This notion that the candidate with the most money will win his or her respective congressional race has been throw out the window with the rest of the conventional political wisdom that many talking heads and establishment-oriented consultants seem to prescribe to.Take Jeb Bush for instance. Bush and his Right To Rise PAC have spent well over $35 million dollars with nothing to show for.
The hotly contested race in Florida’s 18th congressional district has three candidates that have committed to, or are open to buying themselves a seat in the U.S. Congress.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Democrat Randy Perkins has already sunk in $1 million into his congressional campaign, and is could inject more of his cash into the race.
Eccentric Republican Dr. Mark Freeman has “pledged” that he would also sink in $1 million into his campaign account, and Carl Domino, who won the GOP nomination in this congressional district, but lost by a huge margin, told the Palm Beach Post that was “comfortable” in putting another $1 million into his congressional campaign.
Back in the 2014 mid term election cycle, Domino loaned his congressional campaign $1.2 million dollars. Some of the other Republican candidates in this raise, Rebecca Negron, Brian Mast, Noelle Nikpur, and Rick Kozell (pictured), have all posted respectable fundraising numbers, but will have to step up their fundraising efforts if they stand any chance of countering the millions of dollars the three aforementioned “millionaire amigos” will spend this election cycle.
This next FEC reporting cycle could very well define who are the viable Republican congressional candidates in this race. While Negron, Nikpour and Kozell are all expected to do well in fundraising, Mast could be the one to watch once the final finance numbers are released.
Forget about “Mas Tequila!” This year’s election cycle slogan should be “Mas Dinero!”
