Donald Trump really likes Marco Rubio, except when the Senator from Florida gains on him in the 2016 GOP presidential polls.
“The Donald” is atop the field of Republican presidential candidates, but has lost some ground to Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina, and Rubio.Rubio’s great CNN debate performance breathed new air into his then stagnant campaign, and because of his rise in the polls, Trump is now targeting him.
Frontrunner Trump responded to the first attack salvo that the younger Rubio fired off, calling him a “kid,” and saying that he had much “better hair” than the “sweatier” and broke Rubio.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
C’mon Donald, you know how sensitive Rubio is about his hair.
“He’s overly ambitious, too young, and I have better hair than he does,” said Trump about Rubio this past Wednesday.
“Rubio, I’ve never seen a young guy sweat that much… He’s drinking water, water, water, I never saw anything like this with him with the water.”-Donald Trump on RubioTrump did not relent there, attacking Rubio on his lack of personal finances.
“Marco Rubio, as an example, he’s got no money, zero,” Trump said. “I think that’s fine, that’s OK, maybe it’s good politically to say you owe money because you over-borrowed on your credit cards. He’s got nothing. I mean, he’s got nothing.”-Shark Tank
Now Trump is calling Rubio a “lightweight,” saying that Rubio, like the rest of the filed of presidential candidates, was beholden to donors, special interest types, and lobbyists.
Trump stated the following during the tax plan press conference:
“Sen. Rubio is a lightweight…We understand that. He wouldn’t be able to do this. He wouldn’t know a trade deal from any other deal.”“I’m funding my own campaign. Guys like Rubio, he desperately needs money,” Trump said. “Ask the people who support him. A guy like Rubio and others, I don’t want to single him out, you’re singling him out, but they are largely controlled by the donors, the special interests and frankly, more than anybody else, the lobbyists.”
We can expect Rubio to counter Trump, and Trump to then counter Rubio. This is the political funny season, and these kind of exchanges garner free earned media.
This is all one big TV reality show.
