If you have not heard yet Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker dropped out of the presidential race last night. Right after his announcement Walker’s former aide offered her take on what really went wrong.
As reported by CNN, Liz Mair unleashed on Twitter. You may remember her. She is the staff member who was forced to resign in March because of her tweets blasting Iowa.Maybe she is bitter, or maybe she was just waiting for Walker to drop out to release her take on the campaign. Either way, this is what she said:
Misunderstanding the GOP base, its priorities and stances. Pandering. Flip-flopping. Hiring staff who did not know him well and did not understand his record or his reputation across all segments in Wisconsin. Allowing certain staff (ahem) to marginalize and cut off people in Walker’s orbit who had got him to the governorship and kept him there.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Mair also faulted Walker for not “training himself out of tics.” What she meant by that was his tendency to answer “yes” to questions he didn’t agree with. That led people to think he was reversing his positions.
She said another mistake was:
becoming so invested in winning, no matter what it took, that he lost sight of his real identity as a political leader.
Also, during his concession speech, Walker called on the second tier GOP presidential candidates to drop out of the race.
