“A nation that in many ways was created — I’m sorry to have to say this, from way back — on racist principles, that’s a fact, we have come a long way as a nation…My guess is that probably not everybody here is an admirer or voted for Barack Obama. But the truth is, in 2008, this country took a huge step forward in voting for a candidate based on his ideas and not the color of his skin.”–Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT)
Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders just called everyone single American that proudly supports, and or abides by the Constitution of the United States, a racist.Sanders, an Independent, and who for whatever reason is running for president as a Democrat, made the remarks at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, the same place Sen. Ted Cruz announced his 2016 presidential run.
It is not surprising that Sanders made the comment, after-all, he is a self-proclaimed Socialist, and it speaks to where the Democratic Party is today.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Not all Democrats support what Sanders said, but unfortunately, there are quite a bit of jaded Americans (I use that word loosely) that support this kind of rhetoric.
Sanders is gaining on Hillary Clinton in the most recent Democratic presidential primary polls, but this little statement could spell his demise, and it will be interesting to see if Clinton decides to start using his words against him on the stump.
We can probably expect a response from Donald Trump via Twitter.
