A lot of the Israeli public do not trust Barack Obama. They consider him to be naive and even hostile as reported by Fox News. A recent poll shows less then a tenth consider him to be “pro-Israel.”
Once it was reported Obama objective was to renew peace between Israel and it’s neighbors but after the Iran Deal and other anti Israel policies it seems he is trying to do the opposite.Alexander Yakobson, a historian at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem said:
The average Israeli probably thinks that he is a nice guy, but he is naive. He doesn’t get the Middle East, doesn’t understand how the Mideast functions, and he doesn’t therefore understand what dangers Israel has to face.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Yakobson pointed out the president mishaps started when he was first elected. That is when he decided to deliver a landmark speech in Cairo seeking to repair American relations with the Arab world. Yakobson said:
He said the president also mishandled disagreements with Netanyahu over peace efforts with the Palestinians that collapsed last year. Many Israeli’s also agree the Palestinians deserve part of the blame. That was never going to make him popular in Israel.
The biggest issue is the U.S. led nuclear agreement with Iran. Recent polls in Israel state 77 percent of respondents agree the deal endangers Israel and only 15 think it doesn’t. The poll interviewed 500 people and has a margin or error of 4.3 percentage points.
In an April survey of Jewish Israelis 9 percent of respondents described the White House as “pro-Israel” whereas 60 percent called them “pro-Palestinian.” More than 60 percent also described Obama as the worst president for Israel in the past 30 year. Jimmy Carter was the runner up at 16 percent.
The survey was conducted by the Panels Politics agency with the Jewish Journal. They questioned 503 Jewish Israelis and had a margin or error of 4.6 percentage points.
In Israel they refer to Obama by his middle name “Hussein” which is a reference to his Muslim heritage on his fathers side. They take out their anger on the street and in online news forums.
Obama has said after the Iran deal is complete he would like to start working with Israel on ways to increase its security and to calm fears about the deal. Good luck with that.
