Republican congressional candidate Brian Mast could very well be one of the only public figures or elected officials that has the courage to call out mainstream Islam as being complicit with the acts of terror committed in the name of that religion.
Mast, who lost both of his legs in an IED explosion while serving in the U.S. Army in Afghanistan, told the attendees of the monthly Palm Beach Tea Party meeting in Abacoa, Florida, that he believes that the only thing he considers radical would be those Muslims “willing to actively speak out against the acts of terror that are being committed in that name.”The former Special Operations bomb tech then stated that all of the past and future acts of terrorism were part of “mainstream Islam,” adding that those Muslims who do not speak out against acts of terror,” are part of the problem.”
The threat of radical Islam is something that we need to acknowledge by name, and we need to attack wherever it rears its ugly head.

Right now, I believe that it’s radical if we find those among Islam that are willing to actively speak out against the acts of terror that are being committed in that name.
Right now it’s radical to see that. The acts of terror are part of mainstream Islam, because if you are accepting it then you are compliant with it. If you are not speaking out against it, then you are part of the problem, and that to me is mainstream.- Brian Mast
Mast is currently running for congress in Florida’s 18th congressional district, the same district that former Congressman Allen West lost in 2012.
