During their press conference denouncing the recent “normalization” of relations between the U.S. and communist Cuba, as well as to oppose the opening of the U.S. embassy in Havana, and the Cuban embassy in Washington, D.C., the Cuban-American congressional delegation from Miami stated that they would not meet with the Cuban Ambassador to the United States.
Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R) stated “No” when asked if they would attend a meeting with Cuba’s Ambassador that was “facilitated” by the Obama administration.
Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, also a Republican, stated that the three legislators would “always meet with the real representatives of the Cuban people,” and not the “jailers.”
