After the Supreme Court decisions last week, Senator Ted Cruz (TX-R) has decided to propose a constitutional amendment that would subject the judges to periodic judicial elections.
During an speech in Des Moines, Iowa, Ted Cruz said:I am proposing an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would subject each and every justice of the United State Supreme Court to periodic judicial retention elections.
As reported by the Washington Post, Ted Cruz once served as a Supreme Court clerk.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Unlike a lot of the other Republican 2016 contenders who are saying the rulings are now law and we must move on, Cruz is actually trying to solve the problem.
He also said:
Sadly we’ve seen several 2016 candidates in response to yesterday’s decision saying it is the law of the land, we must accept it and move on. When Republican candidates are standing up and reciting Barack Obama’s talking points things have gone seriously wrong.
A Constitutional amendment is hard to achieve but at least it is a start to trying to correct a Supreme Court who now writes laws instead of interpreting them like they are supposed to.
