Can Senator Rand Paul’s popularity on social media translate into Republican presidential primary win next year?
Maybe.Even though Paul’s 2 million Facebook “Likes” is impressive, will Millennials, who are the ones mostly engaged in social media, actually come out and vote for him in 2016?
This of course is assuming that Millennials are going to vote for Rand Paul.
Here is how field of presidential candidates stack up:
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Rand Paul (R) — 2 million
Ben Carson (R) — 1.4 million
Ted Cruz (R) — 1.2 million
Rick Perry (R) — 1.1 million
Marco Rubio (R) — 875 thousand
Hillary Clinton (D) — 873 thousand
Bernie Sanders (D) 534 thousand
Rick Santorum (R) — 216 thousand
Lindsey Graham (R) — 112 thousand
Martin O’Malley (D) — 70 thousand
Carly Fiorina (R) — 60 thousand
George Pataki (R) — 15 thousand
Recent national polling of traditional voters and “Likely voters” have Senators Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, as well as Governors Jeb Bush and Scott Walker, as the frontrunners in the 2016 GOP presidential primary race.
There is plenty of time left before the first vote is cast in this contested primary race, and because Rand Paul is not his father Ron Paul, he would be positioned to move up another rung or two on the presidential primary ladder.
