According to a report released by the inspector general’s office of the Department of Homeland Security, there were at least 73 people employed in the airline industry that are linked to terrorism-related activity. They made it past the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) without notice as per NewsMax.
The employees apparently worked for airlines, airport vendors and other airport-related employers. They made it through TSA’s security clearance even though they were on terrorist watch lists.According to the inspector general’s report:
TSA did not identify these individuals through its vetting operations because it is not authorized to receive all terrorism-related categories under current interagency watchlisting policy.

What that means is the TSA allowed the airports and airlines where the people were to be employed run backgrounds checks on future employees.
The report also said the TSA does not have effective controls in place to determine if a potential employee is authorized to work in the United States.Ironically the report was released a week after TSA administrator Melvin Carraway was reassigned by Homeland Security because the TSA did not detect mock explosives and weapons 95 percent of the time when they were being tested by undercover agents.
