On Sunday, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry broke his right femur in a bicycle accident in France.
Kerry will return to Boston for treatment a Massachusetts General Hospital because he wanted to use his doctor who did the prior surgery to his hip on the same side.A spokesperson for Kerry said he is in “great spirits and active.”
It can take up to six month for the femur to heal but it is said Kerry sustained non life threatening injuries and should make a full recovery.

Kerry is an avid cyclist who had traveled to Geneva for negotiations with Iranian diplomats in regards to their nuclear program. At the time of his accident he was traveling approximately 30 miles from the city.
