Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to speak before a joint session of Congress next week. Some see his upcoming speech as an insult to President Obama because of their strained relationship. President Obama did send some of his political operatives over to Israel in an effort to unseat the Prime Minister in an upcoming election after all.
In response, thirty democrats are planning on skipping out on his speech.Netanyahu is supposed to use the speech to criticize the White House’s objective to negotiate a deal on Iran’s nuclear program. He also is expected to urge Congress to pass new sanctions on Iran.
In total, twenty-six Democratic House members, four Democratic Senators and Vice President Joe Biden have said to date they are not going to attend. There might be many more added to this list in days to come but for now these are the non-attendees:
