I am still scratching my head over Rep. Renee Ellmers’ (R-NC) recent push to derail or push back legislation that would ban all late-term abortions. The former registered nurse, who has gone on record as being staunchly pro-life, has apparently have gone against her principles and sided with House Leadership to thwart the bill, making her the proverbial abortion punching bag for conservatives.
But this is not the first time Ellmers has gone of her political reservation. Just a few days before, Ellmers inexplicably ticked off conservatives by voting against legislation that would have pushed back President Obama’s recent executive amnesty orders on immigration reform.Grassroots activists around the country are railing against the House Leadership’s decision to “sink” the bill, and are now calling for Ellmers to be primaried in 2016.
But where are the potential Republican presidential candidates on this issue? What happened yesterday thwarting a bill protecting a human baby after 20 weeks should have not have happened. It is outrageous and a direct reflection of the lack of leadership of Kevin McCarthy.

The slaughter of unborn children that are 5 months old in the womb is not acceptable to 76% of the American voters. Nor is it acceptable that a couple of cowardice women in Congress who derailed the bill by hiding behind the false narrative of the rape reporting clause. Who will stand for the defenseless innocent children if not Republicans?
With the super majority the American people just handed Congress in November, yesterday’s outcome was indefensible. Speaker Boehner needs get McCarthy to do his job, and if he and McCarthy are not up to the task, they need to be replaced and let someone with moral courage and principled world view take their place. At a minimum, Renee Elmer must be primaried in the next election. –Nancy McGowan, Jacksonville, Florida
Every single 2016 potential GOP presidential candidate except for Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, have stayed quiet about the House Leadership’s efforts to thwart the late-term abortion bill.
There has not been a single public statement denouncing the pro-Choice actions by House Republicans from Rubio, Cruz, Paul, Perry, Bush, Romney, not even from Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee, two big time pro-Lifers.
