The inaugural Iowa Freedom Summit on January 24, 2015, in Des Moines, Iowa, will be the starting point for the 2016 Republican presidential primary race.
Potential presidential hopefuls Ben Carson, Newt Gingrich, Senator Ted Cruz, Senator Rick Santorum, Mike Huckabee, have already confirmed their attendance to the event, but of all of the confirmed attendees, the recent addition of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Sarah Palin, has caused a bit of a stir in the conservative grassroots community.First of all, conservatives don’t see Christ as a conservative, at all.
Secondly, Palin is seen by some as being damaged good, and has virtually no chance of being considered as a viable presidential candidate.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
But the truth about Palin is that she is a viable presidential candidate, who commands a huge base of “Palinistas” that will most likely come out and pour significant cash donations into a Palin presidential candidacy.
DO NOT underestimate Palin political influence.
Rep. Steve King (R-IA) aka the godfather of the Obamacare repeal movement in the House, who along with Citizen’s United, is putting on this event, told me that he is still waiting on a few more possible big-name presidential candidates to make the trip to Iowa in January.
I ran into King in the bowels of the Longworth building in Washington,D.C. this week, where he also told me that Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal (R) couldn’t make the event because he had a faith group meeting on the campus on LSU, where Jindal became a Christian. As far as Texas Govenor Rick Perry, who some believe could get passed his 2011 Oops! moment and become the presidential contender everyone thought he could be, will not be able to make it due to a scheduling conflict that arose when the event was first announced.
King said that he is “still working on him (Perry)” to try to get him scrap his scheduled plans and travel to Iowa.
No word yet  on whether or not Senator Marco Rubio and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush will be joining Cruz, Palin, and others in Iowa.
